　　Guangzhou Water Supply Co. (GWSC), founded in October 1905, is a large state-owned water supply enterprise. It provides integrated services, including water treatment, supply, and diversified business development.
　　All along, GWSC follows the policy of “deliberate city construction, deliberate city decoration and deliberate city management” promoted by Guangzhou Municipal Government, and carries out the Guangzhou City’s requirement of modernizing water supply. GWSC has made its developing strategy based upon scientific projection of the future water supply demands. Using a strategy of “consolidating current service and extending the future service”, and carrying out the spirit of "quality water supply and trustworthy service", GWSC has stepped out as a leader in the modernization of Chinese water supply industry. In addition to satisfying the people’s demands for water, great efforts are extended to improve the water quality and service, which has contributed greatly to creating a city environment that fits for business and living.
　　 GWSC has been awarded many honors including the national “May 1st” Labor Medal, China’s top 500 successful state-owned enterprise, China’s Trustworthy & Example Enterprise, excellent enterprise in Guangdong province, the top 100 successful enterprise of Guangdong province and Guangzhou City’s top 100 high competitive manufacturing industries and hi-tech industries, etc.
　　Water quality is the top priority. At GWSC, national standard monitoring/testing procedures including the three-level monitoring system are strictly followed. Water quality at GWSC meets the national standards. The Guangzhou Monitoring Unit, which is part of the National Urban Water Supply Quality-Monitoring Network, conducts extensive monitoring at 399 sampling points to ensure the water quality and safety in distribution network. In October 2004, the Nanzhou Water Supply Plant (NWSP) put into production at full-scale with the capacity of one million cubic meters per day, which makes NWSP the largest advanced water treatment plant in the Nation. This is a beginning of modernization of water supply in Guangzhou. The water distribution system is optimized, and the water supply for meeting the current and future demand is secured.
　　 In order to build harmony between water supply and water demand, and to ensure the consumer rights and interests, we have been engaged providing consumer-centered water supply services. We strive to perfect the management system, to build sufficient software and hardware systems, and to create innovative ideas and services. So far, we have a well-qualified repair team and a well-trained service team. We operate a service hot line and provide 24-hours per day and 7 days per week services. We established standard procedures for a variety of services, including those to ensure prompt fix of leaking and broken distribution pipelines. Currently, we are doing our best to promote meter reading at every individual household and to reconstruct the measurement system citywide.
　　Guided by science and technology, GWSC will reach the goal of development by leaps and bounds, and achieve the real-time monitoring management during water treatment and dispatching by employing auto-control and SCADA systems. Through developing geography information system (GIS) for water distribution systems, GWSC will strive to upgrade its services and modern enterprise management.
　　Carrying forward the cause and forging ahead into the future, GWSC faces both challenges and opportunities. To reach the goal of modernization Guangzhou water supply as fast as possible, and to promote the development of the Guangzhou water supply industry, all GWSC employees are united and work hard to build Guangzhou into one of the national first “civilized” cities and a “livable and appropriate for investment” modern metropolis. We will write the new chapter of Guangzhou water supply industry and re-create the resplendence of the 100 year’s water supply history and culture of GWSC.
